Avatar (2009) โ $2.92 billion

James Cameron's Avatar has held the #1 spot for most of the time since its 2009 release, aside from a brief stretch when Avengers: Endgame overtook it. A 2021 rerelease in China pushed its lifetime total past $2.92 billion, cementing its lead.
Avengers: Endgame (2019) โ $2.8 billion

The culmination of eleven years of MCU storytelling briefly took the all-time #1 spot from Avatar in 2019, before Cameron's rerelease reclaimed the title. It remains the highest-grossing movie ever made that wasn't directed by James Cameron.
Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) โ $2.33 billion

The long-awaited Avatar sequel overtook Star Wars: The Force Awakens and eventually Titanic on the all-time chart, making James Cameron the director of three of cinema's four biggest movies ever.
Titanic (1997) โ $2.26 billion

Titanic was the first film in history to gross $1 billion worldwide, and held the all-time record for over a decade before Cameron's own Avatar took the crown in 2010. It's still, nearly three decades later, in the top five.
Ne Zha 2 (2025) โ $2.26 billion

A sequel to a 2019 Chinese animated hit, Ne Zha 2 became the first non-English-language, non-American film ever to break into the all-time top 10 โ driven almost entirely by its record-breaking domestic run in China after its January 2025 release.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens (2015) โ $2.07 billion

Disney's revival of the Star Wars saga, introducing Rey, Finn, and Kylo Ren, set a new record for the biggest domestic opening weekend at the time and remains the highest-grossing film in the entire Star Wars franchise.
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) โ $2.05 billion

The first half of the Thanos finale became just the fourth film ever to cross $2 billion worldwide, setting up a direct sequel โ Endgame โ that would go on to outgross it by more than $700 million.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) โ $1.92 billion

The multiverse-spanning threequel became the highest-grossing film released during the COVID-19 pandemic era and remains the top-grossing Spider-Man movie by a wide margin, just shy of the $2 billion mark.
Zootopia 2 (2025) โ $1.87 billion

Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde's return, nearly a decade after the original, became one of Disney Animation's biggest hits ever, riding both nostalgia and a new mystery plot to a spot in the all-time top 10.
Inside Out 2 (2024) โ $1.7 billion

The introduction of Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment, and Ennui to Riley's teenage mind helped Inside Out 2 become the highest-grossing animated film of all time worldwide, and Pixar's biggest release ever.
