Fatal Attraction's ending was completely reshot after test audiences revolted

The original script had Alex Forrest die by suicide, staged to look like the male lead had murdered her. Test audiences reacted badly, feeling cheated of a more direct confrontation, which led to a three-week reshoot for the tense bathroom-showdown ending now considered iconic.
First Blood originally ended with Rambo's death

The original ending had John Rambo take his own life, which would have made First Blood a one-and-done story with no room for sequels. Test audiences responded badly, and director Ted Kotcheff and star Sylvester Stallone had already worked out the survival ending they pivoted to instead โ paving the way for an entire franchise.
Little Shop of Horrors was meant to end with everyone eaten by the plant

True to its stage-musical source material, the film adaptation was originally set to end with Seymour and Audrey both devoured by the alien plant, which then goes on to threaten the world. The bleak ending was changed for the theatrical release.
Blade Runner has had seven different endings across its various cuts

Between test screenings and studio interference, Blade Runner became notorious for its shifting endings โ reportedly seven versions in total. Ridley Scott continued refining the film for years after its lukewarm 1982 reception before arriving at what's now considered its definitive cut.
