It's Christopher Nolan's take on Homer's Odyssey โ releasing July 17, 2026

Nolan's film adapts Homer's epic poem, following Odysseus's long, monster-and-god-filled journey home after the Trojan War while his wife Penelope and son Telemachus try to hold his kingdom of Ithaca together in his absence.
Tom Holland plays Telemachus, Odysseus's son

Holland plays the prince of Ithaca, who spends the film trying to hold his father's kingdom together โ and fend off suitors circling his mother โ while searching for word of Odysseus, who's been gone for a decade.
Zendaya plays Athena, the goddess of wisdom and war

Zendaya takes on a mythological role rather than a mortal one, playing Athena โ the goddess who protects and guides Odysseus throughout his journey. It's her first role in a Nolan film.
The rest of the cast is stacked

Matt Damon plays Odysseus and Anne Hathaway plays Penelope. Robert Pattinson plays Antinous, a rival vying for Penelope's hand; Charlize Theron plays the sea witch Calypso; Lupita Nyong'o plays both Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra; and Jon Bernthal and Benny Safdie play the Spartan king Menelaus and his brother Agamemnon.
It's the first feature ever shot entirely on IMAX film cameras

Nolan shot the entire film on IMAX cameras, a first for a feature-length movie, continuing his long-running commitment to shooting on film rather than digital. Cast members have described the format's massive resolution and physical scale as central to how the movie was performed and staged.
Early reactions out of its London premiere call it Nolan's biggest film yet

After the review embargo lifted following the film's star-studded London premiere, early reactions were largely glowing โ Variety called it "an astonishing achievement" and "a triumphant, spectacular epic," with particular praise for the Cyclops and Circe sequences and for performances from Holland, Damon, Hathaway, and Pattinson.
